The partners delivering the CAVForth autonomous bus project would like to invite you to a media launch event ahead of the start of public passenger services:

Thursday, 11th May 2023
8.30am–11.30am (6am–8am for breakfast broadcast media)
Traffic Scotland National Control Centre
Ferrymuir Gait, South Queensferry, EH30 9SF, Scotland

CAVForth (www.cavforth.com) is a joint project of Fusion Processing Ltd, Stagecoach, Alexander Dennis, Transport Scotland, Edinburgh Napier University and Bristol Robotics Lab which is part-funded by the UK Government's Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. It is one of the most complex projects of its kind worldwide and will be the first registered service in the UK to use full-sized autonomous buses.

A fleet of five Alexander Dennis Enviro200AV vehicles will cover a 14-mile route, in mixed traffic, at up to 50mph across the iconic Forth Road Bridge near Edinburgh. The service will operate a frequent timetable with the capacity for around 10,000 passenger journeys per week and will have two members of staff on board. One Safety Driver in the driver’s seat to monitor the technology, and a ‘Captain’ in the saloon to take tickets and answer customers questions.

Please confirm your interest in attending to media@stagecoachgroup.com as early as possible but no later than 8th May 2023. To enable operational planning, please include an indication of the number of people attending as well as details of the vehicles for which on-site parking will be required.
